It was a busy day at the Rob Hancock site on Saturday!

It was a beautiful day and Rob and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as we did the 18 holes for the League game. I can tell that my stamina isn't really up to it though, I was consistently dropping a stroke going through the second 8 holes. Ah well, it was fun anyway.

Congratulations to Blake for his win, and to Rob for his second. I've no idea how my game was compared to my last though - oh well - no doubt I will find out in due course.

We ate our goat cheese and prosciutto and had a quick break for lunch, and then we were capably briefed for the Ace Race, and everyone went around beating some sense into their new discs with varying degrees of enthusiasm (and success)

These will be a good addition to our stable - we bought an extra bag too, so that now, I think that we can equip a group of 6 very well.

But as for the game, well, I don't have the strength of arm or technique yet - even with the overly generous allowances made for me (thanks fellas!) metal and my disc were not to meet.

But just watching the jubilation when someone scored was prize enough to my mind.

4 times around the course certainly takes it out of you though, I was really starting to feel it on the second half of the Ace Race

I quite 2nd, 3rd and 4th the discussion that suggested League games be held on separate days to other events of this nature.

Oh, we now have a very nice feeling pair of rubber putters - they're very nice to throw and they look great too.
Kim was also talking about another disc, not a putter....an all rounder that he said was very good but has been discontinued - I can't remember the name though. Was it the Breeze?

On Sunday evening we dropped in with a friend and played a couple of holes with her as the sun set. She enjoyed it a great deal, and so did we.

Thanks for the games on Saturday, and I hope everyone had a great time. Rob has sent the photos so hopefully we'll see select photos in the gallery soon.

Take care and see you in the air sometime soon.

Discraft Ace Race Sept 4th!!!!

On the 4th of September straight after the League Day, we've also decided to run a Discraft Ace Race. For those of you unfamiliar with an Ace Race, heres some details:

Format:
Two rounds of 18 holes, one throw per hole per player.

Course layout:
Holes are generally between 180 and 250 feet (55 to 75 meters).

Entry fee: US$25 (Cost in AUD will be announced once player packs are ordered and paid for, exchange rate is all over the place at the moment!)

Player package:
Guaranteed to be at least twice the value of your entry fee! The 2010 player pack includes two identical Discraft prototype discs made especially for Ace Race, plus a SuperColor mini, premium hat, sticker and a die-cast chrome bag tag. A $67 value!

Rules of play:
Players are required to use the player package discs, and only these discs. If a disc is lost, the player has the option of using the second disc from the package. Only one throw per player per hole. All players should have their own scorecards and mark "A" for aces (a hole-in-one) and "M" for holes on which they hit metal.

After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the next line on the card to record the round.

The player with the most aces after 36 holes is declared the winner. In case of ties, the number of metal hits is used as a tie breaker. If a tie persists, a closest to the pin contest is then used to determine the event winner.

Prize package:
Grand prize for each event is a Discraft merchandise package, including a bag and ten new discs. Events are also encouraged to offer an optional cash side pot for those who wish to participate, which is divided proportionally among the number of aces and/or metal hits (will be announced on the day for anyone who wishes to participate in the side pot).

Should be a fantastic event, I don't know if there has EVER been an Ace Race in WA before (Kim should be able to confirm or deny). If you would like to pre-register for this event, let Kris know on kris@perthdiscgolf.com asap, there will be a limited number of Ace Race Players Packs ordered so please pre-register to help us work out how many players packs to order, and more importantly, so you avoid missing out!
