Rookie Rodeo 2023

Chichester Park

January 7, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Maximum registered players: 36 teams, ie. 72
Tournament Director: Kris Kohout

Howdy pardners, it’s time to whistle up your posse and badge up a deputy for the Rookie Rodeo 2023! This tournament returns for another year, and its our chance to bring new players into their first official tournament, so we want YOU to recruit a Deputy to join in the fun.

This year the event will be at Chichester Park Woodvale on Saturday the 7th of January.

Schedule

All times after round 1 start are subject to change at the discretion of the TD.

Time Activity
9am-10am Check-in
10am Players Meeting
10:30am 1 round of 18 holes
Midday Tie breaks (if required)
12:30pm Presentation, Closing Ceremony and food at the Woodvale Tavern

Division/Player Eligibility and Doubles Format

Sheriffs are the more experienced partner in the team and need to recruit a Deputy who has not played more than THREE competitive league days/tournaments (this excludes social leagues like Bindaring Monday, PDGC Senior League, Freo Wednesdays etc).  Once you’ve done that, you have your team, so work out a cool/funny team name and feel free to take them for rounds to get some practice in.

Format

The format is Best Drive then alternate throws from there, and you cannot use the same players driver more than twice consecutively.

For example:

Team 1 Sheriff and Deputy both drive on Hole 1.  The team decide to take the Sheriff’s drive, so the Deputy throws the approach, then the Sheriff putts in to complete the hole.  On Hole 2, both players drive again and again the team elect to take the Sheriff’s drive, so the Deputy throws the approach and the Sheriff putts in.  On Hole 3, this team MUST take the Deputy’s drive as the Sheriff’s drive has already been taken twice consecutively, so the Sheriff will be throwing the approach on Hole 3.

Divisions

The divisions this year are Womens, Mens, Mixed, Juniors and Seniors.  Womens, Mens and Mixed are standard for team composition requirements but for Juniors and Seniors, only ONE team member need to be 15 or under for the team to qualify for Juniors, and only one member needs to be 60 or older for the team to qualify for Seniors.  This rule is in place to encourage mothers/fathers and daughters/sons to team up as a family team across two generations.

Registration will be $15 per player ($30 per team), and includes player insurance, bottled water, trophies for winners and food platters at the presentation at the Woodvale Tavern after the round.  The normal 18 hole Chichester layout will be used, but we will play from an alternate tee location for Hole 14 to avoid players losing their discs on the roofs of the demountables.

If you have any questions please feel free to email TD Hootie at [email protected], we hope you can lasso a Deputy to be on your team and we look forward to seeing you on the day.  Your spot will be locked in once payment is received, this event will be capped at 36 teams.
