The Kim Holmes trophy is a unique event on the disc golf calendar: an inter-club competition between Perth Disc Golf Club & Mundaring Disc Golf Club. Points accumulated by the end of 3 rounds will decide the eventual winner.

Players must be a member of at least one of these clubs to register.

The Kim Holmes Trophy is primarily a social event, and as such, team captains will do all they can to ensure maximum participation and fairness in seedings and team make-up. We want as many people as possible joining in the fun, at least for one round, and we will do our best to even the teams to ensure that we can get everyone competing over all three rounds. This will be ultimately determined by numbers of players and dual-club members on the day.

Event plan

Location: Rob Hancock Memorial Disc Golf Course
When: Sunday, 11th October 2020
Sign in:  8.00am

Round 1: 9am to 10am – 9 holes total team score

All players attending play nine holes singles stroke play. The best 16 scores from each team are added together and the team with the lowest total score receives 8 points: 4 points each if the scores are tied.

If there are less than 16 players, each team will comprise of the number of players of the team with the least players. Players’ scores are ranked to determine a seeding for each player on their respective team. The best 16 scores from each team will progress into the next 2 rounds. (Traditionally, due to lack of numbers, there has been no more than 12 per team, including at least one female per team. The final numbers of players per team will be decided on by the two team captains).

If players are on the same score, the team captain from that team will determine the seeding of those players.

Round 2: 10:15am – 11:15am – 9 holes doubles

The top 16 players from each club will be paired into doubles teams based on their scores from round 1. Number one seed from each club had the best round 1 score and number sixteen seed had the 16th best score from round 1.

PDGC MUNDARING
1 & 4 1 & 4
2 & 3 2 & 3
5 & 8 5 & 8
6 & 7 6 & 7

13 & 16 13 & 16

It will be best-shot doubles format; where players both throw and then play their next shot from the lie that they determine is best. It will also be match-play format, where teams compete to win holes by scoring less than their opposition team on each hole. The team that wins more individual holes across the 9 holes is the winner.

If there is less than 16 players per team, the team captains will determine the match ups.

Teams will receive

  • 3 points for a win
  • 1.5 points for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss

Round 3: 11.30am – 12.30pm  9 holes singles match play

Players from opposing teams go head-to-head in seeded order in match play format over 9 holes. Players are competing to win holes by scoring lower than their opponent on each individual hole. The player who wins the most holes is the winner.

Based on your rank from the first round, players will be matched from 1 to 16 and play against the other clubs same ranked player. For example PDGC number 1 will play Mundaring number 1.
