MVP Space Race 2026

Dick Lawrence Disc Golf Park

January 10, 2026 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Tournament Director: Jon Mu

The 2026 MVP Space Race is set to lift off and brighten the new year skies at Dick Lawrence Park in Fremantle. We aim to take on two rounds of 20 holes, aiming for aces only.

Each astronaut who signs up will receive two discs: a Particle Eclipse Crave and the brand-new Eclipse Atom, both glow super bright.

Festivities begin at 5:30 PM, with a pre-launch sausage sizzle to keep the crew fueled for the mission ahead. The first round of cosmic competition launches at 6:30 PM. Between rounds, we’ll fire up the thrusters with a single bonus event this year: the Distance Competition, challenging players to send their discs into deep space.

During the Space Race, we’ll be hunting for aces only. Scoring is simple and stellar:

1 point for metal

3 points for a basket hit

5 points for a pure ace
All tracked across three divisions, each with its own prize haul.

As dusk settles and the skies dim, the second round will launch around 7:45 PM, so we can try our glow discs.

After the final landing, we’ll honor the top navigators in each division with awards and a payload of prizes. Plenty of discs are up for grabs—so bring your A-game and prepare for launch.

Make sure you’ve got the right equipment

We assume you have already purchased your set of disc golf discs, but you may also consider grabbing a disc golf mini marker for marking your lie. Be sure to have a towel to wipe your discs, drink bottle to keep hydrated and supportive footwear to protect your feet. Sunscreen is also a good idea since you will be outdoors in nature!

Rules of disc golf

Keeping it as simple as possible the following are the disc golf rules for recreational play.

Tee throws

Tee throws must be completed within or behind the designated tee area. Do not throw until the players in front of you are out of range.

Lie

The spot where the previous throw has landed. Mark your lie, pick up your disc and throw directly towards the basket from that spot.

Out of bounds

There are some areas of the courses marked with OB such as roads, water and paths. If you do cross OB, just move your disc where it last crossed in bounds inline with the basket.

Throwing order

After teeing off, the player whose disc is farthest from the basket always throws first.

Completion of hole

A disc that comes to rest in the basket or chains constitutes successful completion of that hole.
